Interoperability platform of the National Cancer Institute (INCAN) of Paraguay.
K2BHealth presented the results of INCAN's Interoperability Platform Pilot, a milestone in Paraguay's digital transformation.
K2BHealth, in conjunction with BID Lab, presented the results of the pilot project for the implementation of the interoperability platform at the National Cancer Institute (INCAN). K2BHealth presented the results on March 29.
K2BHealth presented the results of the Interoperability Platform Pilot Project at INCAN Hospital in Paraguay on March 29, 2023.
The event aimed to close the pilot project and chart the path for further work on the digital transformation of healthcare in this country. Key participants in this significant event included authorities from the Inter-American Development Bank Group, the National Cancer Institute, and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Paraguay, among other stakeholders in the healthcare and technology sectors.
The project
The project began in mid-2021 with the support of BID Lab, the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank Group. It was promoted by Paraguay’s Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MSBSP) and carried out by GeneXus Consulting (K2BHealth), with the aim of incorporating the digital interoperability platform into INCAN’s technology ecosystem so that the different systems in use could be interconnected. This initiative marks a concrete step forward in health systems connectivity, enabling different technology solutions to share clinical information efficiently, securely and with a focus on continuity of care.
Interoperability Platform
K2BHealth’s interoperability platform was deployed on the infrastructure of the MSBSP’s Directorate General of Information and Communication Technology (DGTIC) and is available for use both by INCAN and by other institutions that wish to integrate in the future. From now on, therefore, both INCAN and Paraguay’s health sector as a whole have a key asset for advancing their digital transformation: a platform capable of receiving clinical record documents in a structured format, based on international standards. In initiatives of this kind, information security in health systems is central to protecting patient privacy, guaranteeing the integrity of clinical information and ensuring the availability of medical data.
Our Experience
This is not K2BHealth’s first country-wide project: it was the main technology partner of Salud.Uy in the development of the National Electronic Health Record, a project that positioned Uruguay as a regional benchmark in digital health. K2BHealth has also played an active part in the Oncology Electronic Health Record, the CoronavirusUY app, the COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule, HematoApp and countless solutions for different healthcare providers, which allow it to draw on its deep knowledge of the industry, the applicable international standards and the latest technology trends in healthcare.
In K2BHealth’s experience, this workshop represents a first milestone on the road to digital transformation, as it lays the foundations for building new experiences that deliver better-quality services, place the patient at the centre of the solutions to be developed and aim to improve the quality of care. Along this road, an Interoperability Platform makes it possible to centralise clinical information, facilitate communication between internal and external systems, and move towards more connected, secure and efficient models of care.
