Electronic Health Record Software

The core of the HIS

Electronic Health Record Software

A single health record, available across every service and level of care, with the information each context needs, digitally signed and reachable at any time and place.

Reach the complete, relevant information on every patient, at the time and place where the clinical decision is made.

What is an electronic health record?

It is the digital record of all of a person's clinical information: history, diagnoses, progress notes, medication, tests and instructions. Unlike a paper record or a scanned file, its data is structured and coded, which is what makes it searchable, able to raise alerts, exchangeable with other systems and analysable in aggregate. K2BHealth's EHR is the core of the Hospital Information System: where the information every other module consumes actually lives.

The same record, in every care setting

One health record per patient, with the information and the tools each context needs.

  1. Outpatient EHR

A complete electronic health record for primary care, tailored by age, sex and speciality. Includes electronic prescribing, referrals, future appointments and quick access to clinical history.

    • Electronic prescribing
    • Referrals
    • Future appointments
  2. Emergency EHR

Designed for high-pressure environments: real-time clinical records, bed maps, alert panels, performance indicators and separate lists by type of care — adults, paediatrics, gynaecology.

    • Real time
    • Alert panels
    • Lists by type of care
  3. Inpatient EHR

Comprehensive follow-up of the hospitalised patient, with medical, nursing, nutrition and technical records. Electronic prescribing, progress notes, discharge instructions and referral management.

    • Multidisciplinary records
    • Progress notes
    • Discharge
  4. Operating Theatre EHR

Complete management of the surgical process: WHO safe surgery checklists, operative report, anaesthetic record, mobile records and real-time tracking of the patient in theatre.

    • WHO checklist
    • Operative report
    • Anaesthetic record
  5. Oncology EHR

Management of outpatient oncology treatments: coordination, administration and follow-up of protocols, vital signs recording, medication adherence and digital signature.

    • Protocols
    • Vital signs
    • Digital signature

What a structured clinical record makes possible

The difference between digitising paper and having a truly electronic health record is what you can do with the data afterwards.

  • Electronic prescribing

Medication, additional tests and referrals are prescribed from within the record itself, with the medication and instructions captured.

  • History and alerts

Clinical history is recorded in coded form, so the system can raise alerts about allergies, interactions or relevant conditions at the point of care.

  • Digital signature and traceability

Every entry is electronically signed: what was written, by whom and when. Role-based access, an audit trail of every action and regulatory compliance.

  • Interoperability

Information exchange with other care providers, national and international, under HL7 FHIR and HL7 CDA standards.

  • Information to decide with

Statistical data for epidemiological reports, focused analysis, preventive policy and personalised communication with the population.

  • Available where care happens

Reachable from any device, at any time and place, including mobile records on the ward and in theatre.

Connected with the rest of the ecosystem

The health record does not work alone: it is what makes the other modules meaningful.

  • Medical Scheduling

The appointment is linked to the patient's record and is available when the consultation starts. Learn about Scheduling.

  • Patient Portal

Results, prescriptions and instructions are published to the portal once the professional has validated them. Learn about the Portal.

  • Bed Management

Admissions, ward map, transfers and discharges, within the HIS.

  • Dandelion

The platform that holds the single record and connects it with the organisation's systems and with external networks. Learn about Dandelion.

Why K2BHealth

A health record proven at national scale

More than 25 years of experience in digital health, with a solution deployed from clinics to national electronic health record projects.

5
care settings on the same record: outpatient, emergency, inpatient, theatre and oncology
95 %
of Uruguayans with a National Electronic Health Record, on the platform we built for Salud.uy
  1. One record, not one per system

Every area writes to the same record. What is documented in emergency is available in the outpatient visit and in the admission that follows.

  2. Structured and coded

Data is captured with its own coding and SNOMED CT terminology, which is what makes alerts, exchange and analysis possible. Digitising paper is not enough.

  3. Interoperable by design

It rests on Dandelion, an HL7 FHIR platform: the same architecture behind Uruguay's National Electronic Health Record.

  4. Progressive implementation

You can start with one care setting — the one that matters most — and add the rest, without changing systems or migrating the data twice.

Frequently asked questions

What is an electronic health record?

It is the digital record of all of a person's clinical information: history, diagnoses, progress notes, medication, tests and instructions. Unlike a paper record or a scanned file, its data is structured and coded, which makes it searchable, able to raise alerts, exchangeable with other systems and analysable in aggregate.

Is it the same as a clinical registry?

They are two names for the same thing. At K2BHealth we say Electronic Health Record, or EHR, because that is how institutions and professionals in the region refer to it.

Does the same record work for outpatient, emergency and inpatient care?

Yes, and that is the point: one health record per patient, with a different interface in each care setting. The emergency physician sees what that context needs, and what they record is available for the outpatient visit or the admission that follows.

How is the legal validity of what is recorded guaranteed?

Every entry is electronically signed and fully traceable: what was written, by whom and when. Access is controlled by role and audited, in compliance with local and international information security regulations.

Does it integrate with the systems the organisation already has?

Yes. The EHR rests on the Dandelion interoperability platform, with HL7 FHIR and HL7 CDA standards and SNOMED CT terminology, and exchanges information with laboratories, imaging, pharmacies, ERP and external networks, including national ones.
